FAQ
Does ACHS provide Tops opportunity?
Yes. Many parents have questions about TOPS scholarships for their children. While ACHS provides the necessary courses for students to apply for TOPS awards, the courses alone do not qualify your child to receive TOPS scholarships if your plans are to attend a four year college. ACT scores and the core courses combined determine the TOPS scholarship. TOPS awards are also available for students wanting to attend a community college or technical college in Louisiana. Ask our school counselor for more information on TOPS awards and the requirements.
|
Is ACHS a state approved school?
Yes. In December of 2007, after six months of preparation, the Louisiana Department of Education notified ACHS administration that we are state approved. In January of 2008, the BESE Board ratified the recommendation.

Yes. ACHS follows the necessary course curriculum to not only graduate but to graduate with college credits. Through dual enrollment opportunities with River Parishes Community College, Ascension Technical College, Louisiana State University, and Northwestern State University, ACHS provides opportunity for students to obtain college credits while attending high school, In most cases, students must have an ACT score to apply for dual enrollment.

Will ACHS have a sports program?
Yes. ACHS is a member of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA). In the first year we are going to compete in volleyball, basketball, baseball, Tennis, Track, and Golf. With all of the LHSAA regulations regarding new schools and student transfers and the significant financial commitment it takes to run a football program, we will not be able to compete until 2009-2010.
